storyline; Lady Luger regains youth.
1st Story: The Gammazons From Galaxy G, cont'd (12
pgs)
Credits:
Bill Black, story; Brad Gorby, pencils; Mark Heike, inks
Synopsis:
At Daytona, Dragonfly tries to reason with the gigantic
Nightveil, who senselessly hurls away the Gammazons she has
grabbed. The Gammazons on the ship disable Dragonfly and
recover their sisters, capturing Nightveil as well. In
Kingston, Garganta is abducted in a similar manner by the
other Gammazon party, leaving Synn behind. In the Amazon
jungle, Tara also befalls a similar fate in her attempt to
flee with Arachna's crown. Stardust, Ms. Victory, She-Cat,
and Buckaroo Betty, having witnessed these events with
Captain Video, intercept the Gammazon ship in orbit and
allow themselves to be captured. There they find the three
captives and learn that Arachna's crown is really the key
component in a device that can destroy the Earth. Suddenly,
Nightveil shrinks from her restraints and aims a blast at
the device that causes a systems overload, bringing the
Gammazons and their invasion plans to a fiery end.
Fortunately, Video and Stardust escape in their ships, and
Nightveil manages to teleport the other heroines directly to
FF HQ. There she informs the team that Arachna was really a
pacifist renegade who was trying to hide the powerfully
destructive crown from the more warlike members of her race.
She also laughs with delight at the trouble Ms. Victory will
be in when Gordon learns that Garganta is alive. |

Notes:
Dragonfly does not rejoin the fight after being shot
down over Daytona Beach.... Although not shown explicitly,
Arachna and her followers are presumably brought aboard the
ship, where they perish along with the other Gammazons....
Although Crimson, still impersonating Nightveil, saves Earth
by destroying the Gammazons, her motive is more out of lust
for bloodshed and a desire to afflict the Femforce with
guilt feelings over Arachna's death.... Garganta appears to
be having difficulty adjusting to her restored human state;
she never speaks and acts bewildered in a childlike way by
the events spinning around her.... Betty's appearance is her
first since the Shroud wars, and is the first indication
that she will be working on a semi-regular basis with the
team.... Since the rest of the Femforce are already at
Video's HQ, he must have sent his flyer back to pick up
Betty.... Crimson must have probed the FF member's minds to
learn that Gordon had ordered Garganta destroyed. |

Synopsis:
While Catman leaves for a meeting with General Gordon, Katie
Merryweather follows up on a lead for a new home. On her arrival, she
is greeted by Charles Kettering, who quickly captures her and shows
her the grim sight of Miss Martin's body, the realtor whom he has
apparently killed. Kettering plans to rob the Merryweathers by
forcing Katie to sign a number of blank checks, but Catman, acting on
a tip from Gordon that Kettering might be involved in such a scheme,
charges in and knocks him out. Miss Martin suddenly appears, very
much alive, and reveals that her death was faked by her and her
partner Kettering. A clever ruse by Katie allows her and Catman to
subdue the armed woman and turn both criminals in to the police.

3rd Story: Luger Laughs Last (12 pgs)(Countdown to
Victory storyline)
Credits:
Bill Black, story; Frank Turner, pencils / inks; Tim Twonky,
letters
Synopsis:
Jen Burke stands among the scattered debris of Rad's
abandoned health food store, fuming as she realizes that the
other Femforce members have deliberately kept Rad's location
from her. Colt suddenly appears, still resentful of Jen and
believing, like the others, that Jen only wants to apprehend
Rad to increase her standing with Gordon. Determined to find
Joan herself, Colt obtains some federal surveillance tapes
and spies Luger going into Rad's store. Meanwhile, Rad
herself is basking in the luxury of her new fully-equipped
lab provided by her mysterious benefactor. Fulfilling her
part of the bargain, Joan develops a sample of V-50 to
restore the old woman's youth. Luger pretends that the
sample has failed, but she secretly keeps it so she can
analyze it. After making a second sample, Rad is
treacherously drugged by Voltzman. Awakening, Joan is
horrified to find herself powerless and at the mercy of a
rejuvenated Lady Luger. Voltzmann's analysis of the V-50
formula has allowed him to develop a sedative that, over
several days, has eliminated all of the V-45 from Joan
Wayne's body. Joan is brutally beaten by Luger, who
sadistically plans to make the fallen heroine her helpless
plaything. |

Nazi super soldier formula |
Notes:
It is not made explicitly clear when Luger obtained her knowledge of
Joan's identity or how Dan Barton transformed her into Rad (refer to
NIGHTVEIL No. 7 for the origin of RAD).... As revealed in FF 46,
Luger's power comes not from one of the V-series vitamins but from a
serum developed in Nazi Germany.... Since Colt presumably does not
have the same loyalty towards Joan Wayne that the other Femforce
members have, her hostility likely stems from being replaced by Jen
as the Femforce's leader.... Voltzman's resentment of Luger's
treatment of him first shows itself here, and bodes ill for Luger in
FF 49.... Colt appears to have rebounded from her bleak, drunken
period hanging out with Rad; she now regards herself as a spy, not a
super-heroine and seems comfortable with the role.... Luger's hideout
is revealed to be in the abandoned Mystery House Theme Park in FF 45
(1).
