Synopsis:
Tara is awakened by a scream from She-Cat's room and rushes
over to help. The cat-demon Sekhmet has again begun to take
possession of She-Cat, who is shakily recovering from a
wrenching nightmare that saw her as both hunter and prey in
a Sehkmet-transformed frenzy of bloodlust. Instead of
accepting Tara's comfort, Cat turns on the jungle girl,
hurting Tara deeply by accusing her of uselessness in her
failure to find Janis Lawson after Jungle Island's
corruption by the Shroud. Synn and Stardust break up the
fight, but the damage is done, and Tara storms out. Brooding
because in her heart she feels She-Cat is right, Tara
reflects on her trip to Jungle Island with Jet-Girl
immediately following the Shroud War. Arriving there, she
was faced with two crises: the disappearance of Janis Lawson
and the escape of the alien from the egg, which later
consumed one of the Jungle Island employees. After getting
the alien under control, the two heroines searched
fruitlessly for Janis, who was reportedly last seen trying
to reach the mainland in a small boat to get help. Back in
the present, She-Cat's dream has become reality as she
prowls the Orlando streets seeking prey. Just as she is
about to pounce on a victim, she is magically halted by
Nightveil, who plans to speak directly to Sekhmet. |

Notes:
This is the last story that identifies She-Cat as
Cass/Cleo Angora; after her bonding, she resumes her
original identity of Jessica Hunt (though she is called
White here and in earlier tales).... Ms. Victory appears
only in She-Cat's nightmare.... Cat rejects Tara's
assistance with more than her usual hostility and then
regrets her actions.... In the flashback sequence, Tara is
shown still wearing the dressing on the leg she broke during
the Shroud Wars.... Tara's extreme environmentalist tendency
to put animals over people at times displays itself in the
shockingly callous attitude she shows toward Allan's being
swallowed by the alien along with her effort to restrain
Jet-Girl from harming it.... Tara's lament over her lack of
super powers is short-lived, as she gains her growth
abilities in her very next appearance (GGAQ 5). |

Paisley, letters; Bill Black, edits / dialogue
Synopsis:
Lady Luger and Franz, the Nazi who is posing as the Black Commando,
escape form the police after their failed attempt to rob Millicent
Lichness's war bond party. They make their way into rural Virginia,
where Col. Vogel, a Nazi sleeper agent, has set up a safehouse. Vogel
has developed a powerful hypnotic transmitter with which he plans to
immobilize America's cities one by one, leaving them ripe for Nazi
conquest. Disregarding Luger's orders, Franz sends out a personal
message to the Blue Bulleteer, challenging her to meet him in mortal
battle on the White House lawn. Unknowingly however, he has
inadvertently sent the signal to New York instead of Washington, and
it is received and responded to by She-Cat. Meanwhile, the Blue
Bulleteer is following up leads at the DC police station when word is
received of the strange message to New York. That night, Franz has
more than he bargained for as both She-Cat and the Bulleteer converge
on the White House. and apprehend him. Luger and Vogel, having
followed Franz to stop his foolish escapade, end up crash landing
when they try to steal She-Cat's autogyro, which she neglected to
refuel. The two heroines unmask the Black Commando, and Laura, to her
great relief, clears Dan's name.

battle against Fungi and the official establishment of the team (see

seen without the cuffed boots and high neck outfit she was known for
in the war years.
