The Legion of Superheroes, for those of you that don’t
know, is DC’s superhero team from 1000 years into the
future. A simplistic view of the Legion might say it is comprised
young adults with special abilities from different planets
banding together to try to keep the future safe. Then again
nothing with The Legion is ever simple so I won’t get
into terms like pre-boot and post-boot (darn that Zero Hour
storyline)…
Aaa-team: But you are here to see action figures so here they
are, The Legion Muscle Squad. These are the Legion members
that are called when you need to move a planet. You may ask
yourself “Why
would The Legion need a planet moved?” The answer is,
I don’t know,
but these guys could do it.
Andromeda: AKA Laurel Gand is the fair-haired representative
from the planet Daxam. You know the planet where everyone has
Superman-type powers once they reach the influence of a yellow
sun. This is Laurel’s pre-space nun look. Frankly,
we didn’t think a space
nun figure would sell well.
Ferro: The Legion’s representative from 20th century
Earth. Andrew Nolan, rebooted as a shy and somewhat insecure
guy, was born with the ability to change his body composition
from flesh to metal.
Ferro Unmasked: Unfortunately, Ferro’s face is hideously
disfigured so he hides behind a mask. Ferro may not be very
strong, but when in iron form he is really tough.
Leviathan: AKA Gim Allon formerly of the Science Police, presently
deceased. Gim had the ability to increase his body size and
strength proportionately. Alas Leviathan died heroically in
the line of duty as he dreamed of doing.
M’Onel: What would you do if you were released after
1000 years in the Phantom Zone? Join The Legion of Superheroes
of course, anything to get your own action figure.
Night Girl: Lydda Jath from the planet Kathoon has incredible
strength… when she is in the dark. Unfortunately, light
saps her strength. Though her strength is mighty, her weakness
is such that she has been rejected for Legion membership. Nonetheless
her status as a fan favorite merits her an action figure in
this line.
Superboy: He’s in the Legion, he’s not in the
Legion, who can keep up with this? In my own little pocket
of the universe, Superboy is a Legionnaire. Thank DC for hypertime.
Supergirl: A sentimental favorite.
Thunder: The Legion “needed” a Marvel Family representative
and CeCe Beck is what DC gave them. Still any member of the
Marvel Family is a force to be reckoned with, and though her
stay with The Legion was short, her likeness was captured in
an action figure.
Timberwolf: Recently re-introduced into the Legion, Brin Londo
was a gang leader from the planet Rimbor. The decision was
made to produce an older version of this hero until fans have
a chance to warm up to the new Brin.
Ultra Boy: AKA Jo Nah, was also gang leader from the planet
Rimbor. If there was ever a “back” story that needed
revisiting, it’s this one. Swallowed by a space whale?
Acquired “Ultra” energy
from eating space whale meat? Can only use one power at a time?
Even with a back-story like this, Ultra Boy is still one of
the most popular Legionnaires in history and this action figure
sells more than any of the other Legionnaires’ figures. |
