The Legion of Superheroes, for those of you that don’t
know, is DC’s superhero team from 1000 years into the
future. A simplistic view of the Legion might say it is comprised
young adults with special abilities from different planets
banding together to try to keep the future safe. Then again
nothing with The Legion is ever simple so I won’t get
into terms like pre-boot and post-boot (darn that Zero Hour
storyline)…
Thursday – The Legion’s Other Squad
Welcome to the fourth day of Legion figures. The three previous
days you saw teams that could move a planet, hide a planet,
and power a planet… This team could occupy a planet.
No more dawdling, on to the figures.
Brainiac 5 and Koko: A twelfth level intellect from the planet
Colu, and probably the smartest person ever. Just ask him.
Querl Dox is a descendant of Brainiacs, apparently evil skips
generations or such in that line, because he’s a hero
now but his mom was pretty evil. And what’s a lab man
without his pet monkey? Brainiac 5 comes with Koko the monkey
accessorie.
Catspaw: A very brief tenure in The Legion for this feral
character. Probably shouldn’t even have an action figure,
but it just goes to show you that toy companies do listen to
the fans occasionally.
Dawnstar: An old time fan favorite who hasn’t been seen
in years. Dawnstar has magical path finding, no wait, I mean
tracking abilities and wings.
Dragonmage: Not a Legion member, but he has been seen hanging
around enough to merit his own figure. He is what is name implies…A
sorcerer.
Karate Kid: Val Armorr is a master of most combat disciplines
known throughout the galaxy.
Kinetix: Zoe’s powers are fairly vague and always dynamic.
Much like the character herself. She has a tail; she doesn’t
have a tail. She likes to wear yellow and red, now she likes
green. She’s
a human, no she’s a robot, no she’s a superevolved
entity with even vaguer powers. I don’t know. She just
is. Apparently she’s a telekinetic
with a little bit of transmutational powers added in. She’s
also an action figure.
Matter Eater Lad: Here is the heroic version of the present
day Legion Chef. Tenzil Kem from the planet Bismoll has the
super power of being able to eat anything. No wife’s
cooking jokes please.
Polar Boy: Brek Bannin from the planet Tharr never made it
into the rebooted Legion. He had enough of a (future) history
with the team to justify his likeness in an action figure.
Shikari: A new addition to the Legion ranks from the recently
discovered Kwai universe. Shikari has path finding abilities,
a warrior’s mentality, and a budding knowledge of Interlac
(the standard language of the UP for all you non-legion types).
Shikari
maskless: Shikari without her mask.
Sunboy: This is an older version of Dirk
Morgna here, since the current version doesn’t
really seem too Legion-ish. Not much to say, Sunboy has
sun powers. |
