More mailaway figures! Playmates is the king of the repaint/headswap
exclusive mailaway figure. Between the Star Trek mailaways
and the Simpsons mailaways one could fill up a whole refrigerator
box full of figures that are either repaints or headswaps,
or both of previously released figures. But still, there
are few things sweeter than sending off a few proof of purchases
and a couple of bucks for shipping and handling, waiting
six to eight weeks, then getting a nice generic white mailer
box in the mail. Full of exclusive mailaway figure goodness.
These customized figures were made with the first series of
Simpsons figures, with the dilated pupils painted on with acrylic
paint. I didn’t realize until after I looked at the pictures
that I could have just as easily put the pupils on later in
Photoshop or something. D’Oh!
