Dark Aegis
Dark Aegis: Despite the fact that no one seems to know who or what he is, since he only
appeared briefly in one episode of the Iron Man cartoon, I think Dark Aegis has an awesome
design. When I decided to flesh out the line, he was one of the first things I knew I had to make...
that, and I had all the pieces already.
The body, armor, and weapon is from Heavy Metal Beast (X-Men), the head and hoses are from
Warblade (WildCATs).
Hypnotia
Hypnotia: A villainess created for the cartoon, I got a real kick out of the interplay between
Hypnotia and the love-struck Dreadknight. I decided I wanted a figure of her, and one day came up
with this. Once I started, it was incredibly easy, and I think it turned out fantastic.
The entire body and armor are modified from Deathbird, and the head was originally Black Cat's.
Living Laser
Living Laser: Another one of the figures that was scrapped from the fifth series of Iron Man, LL
was eventually released as a Professor X figure. It was an inspired move, but I would have rathered
a Living Laser... and now I have one.
Living Laser was an Astral Armor Professor X, with a George Clooney Batman head. His 'horns'
were snatched from a cheap ninja figure's helmet.
Recorder
Recorder: What can I say? Some figures you make, even if they don't deserve it. Recorder was
fairly integral to the early issues of Force Works, and I had one of those "what the heck" moments
and decided to make him. I can now recreate the death of Wonder Man!
...What do you mean, "which death?"
Recorder's arms and legs were Cyclops 1, the torso was Wolverine 2, the head was Archangel 1,
and the chest detail was a Star Trek sticker.
Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch: This custom is something of an amalgam of the cartoon design and the costume that
Wanda wore about the time of Force Works. Technically they are the same, but while flipping
through the comics and watching the cartoon, I noticed that this costume was never set in stone-
every artist made little changes to it, so it never appeared the same way twice. Although some of
that is probably just bad artwork, I took it as my cue to also take liberties with the design, the most
obvious being the thigh boots. I suppose in retrospect, there are enough differences in the costume
that it's more of a tribute than a representation, but... tough, I like it this way. It was really only after
she was finished that I realized that she's about a quarter-inch taller than the other IM figures
(whoopsie!), but luckily it's not enough to make her look out of place among her teammates.
The entire body is from a Robot Fighters Storm figure, and expect for color, is virtually unchanged.
The head is from a Battle Blasters Jean Grey, and the loincloth is from Lady Deathstrike.
Wonder Man
Wonder Man: Yes, I'm fully aware he died in the very first issue of Force Works, but even after
death, Wonder Man was integral to the storyline of the comics. Beyond that, Wonder Man has died
and managed to come back what, five, six times? I don't think it's out of line to make a figure of
him. Interestingly, the Wonder Man figure sold as a Toyfare exclusive was completely Archangel
with a Dan Ketch head, even though he never had hair that style in the comic, and personally, I like
the FW costume a lot better.
This figure is basically repaints of repaints- the body is Iolas from the Hercules line (who was a
repainted Archangel 2), and the head is from a Toys-R-Us exclusive Iceman (who actually had the
head of Mr Fantastic).
