After a relentless onslaught of Batman Varients, ol' Hasbro
has finally got some sense knocked into their heads. Most
series have only had one villian figure, the occasional
sidekick figure and a bevy of Batmen. This crisis is now
being Averted with the GOTHAM ROGUES series. This series
is designed for collectors and comic fans primarily, and
what better way to please them, than to take some characters
that haven't been seen in a long time, and render them in
the style of Tim Sale, artist of Batman: The Long Halloween,
Batman: Dark Victory, and A Superman For All Seasons.
The first wave contains Poison Ivy, The Mad Hatter, The
Scarecrow, Catwoman, and Two-Face.
Catwoman,
armed with 14 points of articulation, has a bending
tail, allowing for wonderful poses.
Poison Ivy has 9 points of articulation, and comes
with a huge vine base, and poseable vine hair. The
base is entirely poseable.
The
Mad Hatter has the least articualtion of any figure
in the series, at 5 points. The hat is removeable,
as is his handgun.
The Scarecrow has a whopping 14 points of articulation
on his lanky frame, with a reposeable, removeable
hat and staff.
Two
Face, towering over the other figures with 13 points
of articulation, has two interchangeable heads,
one with scarring, one without. When talking with
the company reps, we learned that a sculpt for the
Harvey Dent head was made, and then mutilated to
become the Two Face head.
A second series is in the works rumored to include Joker.
This series is planned for sometime next year, depending
on the reception of the first wave. A possible third series,
this time with heroes, may accompany the second wave, and
would include Batman and Superman.
