Custom Recipes:
Belts and pouches: Made from elastic bought at fine fabric
stores everywhere. A snap was sewn on to the elastic. The elastic
was colored with pens. The pouches were made from the same
elastic then sewn into place on the belt with gold strands
from a curtain tassel.
Paint: All figures were primed with Krylon gray primer. Areas
to be finished in bright colors were then primed again with
white primer. Acrylics were used and the figures sealed with
Dulcote. For shiny finishes, decoupage glue was used as a sealer. Radion:
The Radion figure used the X-men Sunspot figure as a base.
The heads are casts of Peter Parker from the Marvel’s
Greatest Moments two pack with the Green Goblin. The radiation
fire on one head and pony tail on the other head were sculpted
out of kneadatite. The containment helmet came off of one of
my wife’s good smelling stuff bottles and has kneadatite
around the edges. The heads are interchangeable because of
a snap joint. I had a lot of fun putting this one together.
Spider Girl: Ninja Psylocke body with arms
from “Touchdown” Spider Woman. The head is from
a long haired Storm figure and the glasses are a modified version
of the Speed Racer Assassin’s glasses. Elastic was used
for the choker, collar, belt, and knee pads.
Blast Off: Well what do you know…a
second use for the Avalanche figure? I acquired this figure
with the intent of making Orion, but it seemed like that had
been done enough so I let it sit. The head is a cast of The
Wizard from the Fantastic Four line. Kneadatite was added for
the goggles and the figure was painted.
Evolvo: I had such great expectations for
this figure. I had just finished Radion and Insect Queen and
I was feeling pretty good about myself as a customizer. I went
into this one with a grand plan and turned out a stinker. If
I cared enough about the character, I’d do it over, but
I don’t so count him as filler for the Work Force. The
figure is a short legged Ice Man with a kneadatite enhanced
head. I tried to finish coloring him with a combination of
paint and chalk for the skin tone, but it just didn’t
work. His armor is dried acrylic paint that was cut to form.
I don’t think I can express how much I hate this figure.
I hate it.
Particon: The body is a Battle Blasters
Rogue with a head from the cheap KB Rogue reissue with kneadatite
added. The visor is from the tab of a sheet divider that you
can get at most office supply stores. Pretty straightforward
stuff. |
