With the success of the Justice League Unlimited cartoon,
it was proven that a series with a large cast and varied locales
could be achieved. So it may come as no surprise that Warner
Bros. has decided to bring their golden age heroes to the small
screen with All-Star Squadron: The Animated Series. The series
will feature a wide range of the colorful characters from the
1930s and ‘40s, and, of course, this cast will be brought
to life with Hasbro’s new line of action figures! Strangely,
these figures are made in the 5” “old school” animated
style, rather than the new 4 _” Justice League format.
When asked to comment, a drunken representative replied, “The
Justice League people stole all of the best golden age villains
for their show, and then did that whole ‘Justice Guild’ thing
instead of using the original characters. They made it pretty
clear that they had no respect for the Squadron, so we decided,
in turn, to screw the consumer! Now those kids will never be
able to have their own Justice League/ Justice Society crossover!” He
rambled on in this vein for a while before starting to curse
and become violent, at which point he was escorted from the
convention hall.
Despite this scale difference, the All-Star line looks promising,
with an initial wave of seven figures (eight if you count Doll-Man!),
and many more in the works.
Another representative revealed that more characters were already in the works,
including the Spectre, Dr. Fate (in his traditional comic book costume), Phantom
Lady, and the villainous Ragdoll. He also mentioned plans to release special
two-packs of heroes and sidekicks, with Johnny Thunder and his Thunderbolt
first on the list.
