Following the success of the first Image 10th Anniversary
figures by Mcfarlane toys (Spawn, Ripclaw, Savage Dragon & Shadowhawk)
released earlier in 2003, ToyBiz together with Lone Horseman
Studios now present the continuation of this line with the
next series of Image Comics characters. The figures for this
second wave were inspired by one of the most popular Image
Comics titles from the past decade: WILDC.A.T.S.
WILDC.A.T.S
was the code name for a rouge covert operations group comprised
of humans, alien beings called the Kherubims, and human-Kherubim
crossbreeds that each had unique powers or abilities. The team’s
purpose was to defend humanity against the Daemonites, an alien
race determined to conquer the Earth.
Four members of the “Wild Covert Action Team” are
featured in this series: Spartan, Grifter, Warblade and Maul.
These well detailed figures faithfully replicate and pay homage
to the original character designs of comic book creator/artist
Jim Lee.
The WILDC.A.T.S
- Aside from their comics and animated series, WILDC.AT.S had
crossovers with JLA, X-men and Aliens. In light of Image
Comics’ 10th anniversary, fans can now rediscover these
awe-inspiring classic characters.
SPARTAN
–
This team field commander’s motto is “Victory at
any costs”. Whenever his biosynthetic cyborg body
is damaged in combat, his memories are downloaded into
new bodies to maintain his immortality.
GRIFTER
- The man behind the mask is an experienced former Special
Forces operative and accomplished marksman. Having unmatched
skill with handguns, he is able to pull off impossible acrobatic
trick shots.
WARBLADE
- This martial arts expert is gifted with extraordinary
hand-to-hand combat abilities. His “hands” form
bladed weapons at will. His malleable metallic body allows
limbs to elongate to increase striking range.
MAUL
- The team’s powerhouse member spontaneously increases
his size and strength to an unlimited degree. He must set
his own limit because the more he grows, the more uncontrollable
he becomes.
WITH THE PLAYMATES
- Female members of the team (Zealot and Voodoo) were made
by Playmates toys (1995). The new line makes a fitting
addition to any previous WILDC.A.T.S collection made in 6-inch
scale. |
