Joss Whedon’s “Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”
Sasha (aka MsBig) has produced a range of exclusive figures
for the Internet Musical Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.
This is a 2008 musical tragicomedy short film produced for
Internet distribution, and subsequently DVD. It tells the story
of Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris), an aspiring supervillain,
Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillian), his cheesy nemesis, and Penny
(Felicia Day), their mutual love interest.
Anti-Hero Dr Horrible
Dr Horrible prepares to steal a case of Wonderflonium for his
time-stopping Freeze Ray. He commandeers the courier van using
a remote control device. He is distracted by the girl of his
dreams, Penny, then foiled by Captain Hammer.
Nemesis Captain Hammer
Captain Hammer appears, smashing the remote control receiver
and inadvertently causing the van to veer towards Penny. Hammer
pushes her out of the way (into a pile of rubbish). Horrible
regains control of the van and stops it, making it appear as
though Captain Hammer had stopped the van with his bare hands.
Love-Interest Penny
Penny has been asking people to sign a petition to turn a condemned
city building into a homeless shelter. After she’s thrown
into the garbage, Dr Horrible confronts Captain Hammer. Then
Penny emerges to thank Hammer, making him forget about beating
up Dr. Horrible. As Hammer and Penny serenade each other, Horrible
makes off with the Wonderflonium.
Dr Horrible, Captain Hammer and Penny share an alley stand
with a brick wall, a “Bad Horse - The Thoroughbred of
Sin” poster, the case of Wonderflonium, and some garbage.
