DC Comics: Minifig Power Packs

Hard on the heels of LEGO’s incredible success with Batman, Superman, and Justice League playsets and vehicles comes their next adventure with DC Comics:  “Minifig Power Packs.”  LEGO minifigures have been icons for decades, and can be considered the industry’s first block figures. 

With fans clamoring for more characters to fill out their DC Universe adventures, LEGO is putting out assortments of heroes and villains that can ally with the characters that have already filled the toy shelves of kids and adult collectors alike.

“We’re excited that we can finally take this step,” says Quinn Rollins, brand manager for the Power Packs.  “we’ve seen how popular the DC Comics characters have been with our Batman, Superman and Justice League lines;  now we get to open up that universe a little bit more and fill in some of the gaps we’ve left.  Kids got Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash and Aquaman in the other sets…now we can take things to the next level of play.”

The first Power Pack includes three heroes and six villains:

Martian Manhunter
Plastic Man
Hawkman
Gorilla Grodd
Reverse Flash
Despero
Brainiac
Vandal Savage
Dr. Destiny

There will be more Power Packs coming soon, and they’ll include some pretty obscure characters only available through LEGO.com or at the LEGOLAND theme parks.  “The way I see it is DC Comics has given us a vast library to draw from—it’d be a shame to let all those great characters go to waste.”
